Caring for pashmina and fine-wool pieces
Always follow the care instructions on your piece's label first: embroidery, crystals and blends each need slightly different handling. These are the basics.
Cleaning
Professional dry cleaning is the safest choice, especially for embroidered, crystal-work or printed pieces. If the label allows hand washing: use cold water and a mild wool or silk wash, don't rub or wring, press out water by rolling the piece in a towel, and dry it flat in the shade.
Pressing
Use a low heat setting with a cotton cloth between the iron and the fabric. Never iron directly over embroidery or crystals.
Storing
Store pieces clean and folded in a breathable cotton or muslin bag, not plastic. Add a natural moth repellent such as cedar or neem, and air your pieces now and then, away from direct sun.
Everyday wear
Spray perfume before you put the piece on, not onto it. Watch for jewellery and bag straps that can catch fine threads. Light surface pilling can appear on some blends with wear; lift it gently with a fabric comb.
